With Scandinavian and German heritage to embellish Twin Cities charm, Minneapolis – St. Paul extends worldly sophistication and culinary outreach to include a multitude of ethnic cuisines and hot new trends – especially on what’s known as “Eat Street” along downtown’s Nicollet Avenue. The so-called Warehouse District, northwest of downtown, is another dining and entertainment stronghold, as is Uptown Minneapolis (southwest of downtown) where main drag Hennepin Avenue is liberally dotted by places to eat and have fun. St. Paul’s West Side has a generous inventory of ethnic eateries and its Grand Avenue is a showcase for restaurants and bistros. Featuring American fare to sushi, Minneapolis – St. Paul boasts home-grown chefs and transplants from elsewhere, all adding sophistication and depth to the Twin Cities dining line-up. History-laden options include Minneapolis’ Gluek’s Restaurant and Bar, traced back to 1855 and St. Paul’s Café Minnesota by Bon Appetit, where tray service includes free entrance to the Minnesota History Center.
